Winter weather returns Sunday night

MEDFORD, Ore. - A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued From 4:00 PM Sunday to 4:00 PM PST Monday for the Eastern Douglas County Foothills above 2500 feet, South Central Oregon Cascades, and Southern Oregon Cascades from Howard Prairie Lake north.

The Siskiyous are not included in this Advisory.

Oregon highways 62, 138, 140, and 230 will be affected. Total snow accumulations of up to 11 inches in the Cascades and up to 4 inches in the Eastern Douglas County Foothills.

Snowfall will be heaviest Monday morning when rates in the Cascades will approach 1 inch an hour.

Gusty winds will lead to blowing snow, which could significantly reduce visibility, and could bring down tree branches. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination. Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO NOON PST MONDAY.

WHAT
Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

WHERE
Areas along Highway 97 north of Chiloquin including Chemult and higher mountains above 5500 feet elevation in far eastern Klamath and far western Lake Counties.

WHEN
From midnight tonight to noon PST Monday.

IMPACTS
Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Snowfall will be heaviest Monday morning.

WHAT
Snow expected. Total snow accumulations 6 to 12 inches in the Cascades with heaviest amounts above 5000 feet. Winds gusting 30 to 40 mph and locally up to 50 mph over exposed higher locations in the Cascades, mainly above 5000 feet.

WHERE
South Central Oregon Cascades and Southern Oregon Cascades from Howard Prairie Lake northward. The Siskiyous are not included in this Advisory. Oregon highways 62, 138, 140, and 230 will be affected.

WHEN
From 4 PM Sunday to 4 PM PST Monday.

IMPACTS
Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

Snow expected above 2500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches with locally higher amounts of 6 to 10 inches in the mountains above 3500 feet.

WHERE
Eastern Douglas County Foothills above 2500 feet and areas along Highway 138 near Toketee Falls and higher.

WHEN
From 4 PM Sunday to 4 PM PST Monday.

IMPACTS
Plan on slippery road conditions.
