South Central Oregon Cascades
Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades

Including the cities of Crescent Lake and Diamond Lake

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM MONDAY TO 5 PM PDT WEDNESDAY

* WHAT...Wet snow expected, especially above 4000 feet. Storm total snow accumulations 6 to 10 inches.

* WHERE...The Southern Oregon Cascades. This includes portions of Highway 62 towards Crater Lake, portions of Highway 230 near and including Diamond Lake, Highway 138, and Highway 58 near Willamette Pass.

* WHEN...From 8 PM Monday to 5 PM PDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels start out around 6000 ft, lowering to around 4500 feet Tuesday morning, then 4000 feet Tuesday afternoon. Overall, amounts may be a little less due to some melting, especially on roadways during the day Tuesday, but accumulations are still possible above 4000 feet.

NWS Advisory Levels

  • A Winter Weather Advisory will be issued for any amount of freezing rain, or when 2 to 4 inches of snow (alone or in combination with sleet and freezing rain), is expected to cause a significant inconvenience, but not serious enough to warrant a warning.

  • A Winter Storm Watch is issued when there is the potential for significant and hazardous winter weather within 48 hours. It does not mean that significant and hazardous winter weather will occur.

  • A Blizzard Warning means that the following conditions are occurring or expected within the next 12 to 18 hours.

  • A Winter Storm Warning is issued when a significant combination of hazardous winter weather is occurring or imminent.

  • NWS Advisory levels defined.
