This winter weather alert is courtesy Ace Towing, 541.884.9388.

MEDFORD, Ore. - A strong winter storm will impact the region Wednesday into Thursday. Moderate to heavy snow is anticipated above 2500 ft. Light snow possible down to 1500 ft early Thursday morning. The heaviest snow is expected Wednesday evening through Thursday morning.

Strong south-to-southwest winds will lead to blowing snow east of the Cascades and in the Shasta Valley and result in periods of reduced visibility. Gusts of 30 to 60 mph are expected along the Coast, in the Shasta Valley, east of the Cascades, and across the terrain.

Travel during this time will be extremely difficult, if not impossible. If you must travel, be sure to stock and pack your car’s emergency kit and check road conditions before venturing out.

Travel is strongly discouraged by the National Weather Service because of dangerous conditions. If you must travel, keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with you. NWS reminds, the safest place during a winter storm is indoors.

A Winter Storm Warning means that severe winter weather is occurring, imminent, and poses a threat to life and property. Take protective action now.
