A series of wet and cold low-pressure systems will move across Northern California and Southern Oregon Saturday through Tuesday likely resulting in heavy snowfall across much of Northern California in Siskiyou County, the Siskiyou Mountains, and the Oregon Cascades. While details are still to be determined, there is high confidence that feet of snow is likely to fall at elevations above 3500 feet across those areas.

This could cause significant travel problems, at times, during the mentioned time period.

Heavy snow is possible. New snow accumulations of 12 to 24 inches. Winds could gust 40 to 60 mph across the passes and higher elevations, at times.

While Siskiyou Summit is not in the current watch area, 6-10 inches of snow is expected there during this time period, so travel is likely to be impacted on Interstate 5 from the Hilt area to the Mount Ashland Exit area.

This low-pressure system is likely to be followed by another impacting low-pressure system Monday into Tuesday.

Location:
Eastern Douglas County Foothills, South Central Oregon Cascades, Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades and Northern and Eastern Klamath County and Western Lake County. Including the cities of Crater Lake, Crescent Lake, Diamond Lake, Chemult, Crescent, and Gilchrist

This includes portions of Highway 97 from the Chemult area to Crescent, portions of Highways 138, 230, and 62 in the Diamond and Crater Lake areas, portions of Highway 140 near Lake of the Woods, and the Mount Ashland Ski Road.
