A Freeze Warning has been issued for parts of South Central Oregon and Northern California for 2:00 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday, 9/29/21. (Click for larger)
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 20 degrees are expected.
Location:
Portions of Modoc and northeast Sikiyou counties in California, and Klamath and Lake counties in Oregon. This includes the communities of Klamath Falls, Chiloquin, Bly, Bonanza, Silver Lake, Christmas Valley, Lakeview, Paisley, Tulelake, Dorris, and Alturas.
When:
From 2:00 AM to 11:00 AM PDT Wednesday, September 29, 2021.
Impacts:
Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Temperatures Tuesday night into Wednesday morning could drop into the low thirties across west side valleys, especially in Northern California. This will bring the potential for frost, which could harm unprotected, sensitive plants.
