It may be early September, but that doesn’t mean we’re done with heat! High pressure over the region will allow inland temperatures to warm to 20 to 25 degrees above normal for this time of year. West side valleys will exceed 100 degrees, and east side valleys will warm into the upper 90s. Relief even at night will be limited, especially in western valleys where lows are only expected to lower into the upper 60s. Additionally, smoke from area wildfires will bring continued impacts through the holiday weekend, especially to Northern California and for areas from the Cascades east. This may pose a health problem for those seeking relief by opening windows, or attempting any outdoor activities. A heat advisory is in effect for western valleys through this weekend.
