Air Stagnation Advisory issued through noon Friday

This winter weather alert is courtesy Ace Towing, 541.884.9388.

MEDFORD, Ore. - High pressure will build over the region this week with strong valley inversions. This will support light winds and limited vertical mixing beneath the inversions. As a result, we expect air stagnation and possible deteriorating air quality.

Brief east winds may surface in the south end of Rogue Valley near Ashland Wednesday, but won’t last long.

In terms of temperatures, nights will be cold, and days will be seasonable. No precipitation is expected. A front Friday and additional fronts this weekend should provide better mixing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
People with respiratory illness should follow their physician`s advice for dealing with diminished air quality. N95 masks are effective at filtering out the majority of harmful air particulates. State air quality agencies highly recommend that no outdoor burning occur and that residential wood burning devices be limited as much as possible. According to state air quality agencies, prolonged periods of stagnant air can hold pollutants close to the ground where people live and breathe.
