Oregon Tech Women’s Volleyball Announces 2018 Recruiting Class

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech Head Women's Volleyball Coach Andrew Clifton has announced his 2018 recruiting class for the Women's Volleyball program.
 
Clifton stated, "This 2018 recruiting class is a very strong one. We are reloading in the middle and getting some very skilled players in other positions. With this class we are gaining some needed height, blocking and fire power. This recruiting class will be a great fit for this upcoming season as well as future seasons."

Amanda Edwards

  • Middle Blocker / Right-Side
  • El Dorado High School / Placentia, California
  • Goldenwest Volleyball Club

Coach Clifton: "Amanda is a good athlete for her height and will bring a strong presence to the middle and right-side positions. As a middle blocker she has a lot of potential to be a dominate player in the CCC. Amanda plays for a very strong club and has gotten good training throughout her senior year. We expect Amanda to make an immediate impact on the team and we are looking forward to seeing her grow as a player and athlete the next four years."
 
Notable Info: Amanda earned a Century League Championship in 2016 and 2017. Amanda was a two-year varsity letter winner in 2016 and 2017. She also received an athletic award for El Dorado High School and the California Interscholastic Federation.

Melody Edwards

  • Middle Blocker
  • El Dorado High School / Placentia, California
  • Goldenwest Volleyball Club

Coach Clifton: "Melody is a very strong middle blocker with lots of experience playing at a high level. Melody is going to bring a lot of blocking and fire power to the middle position. She plays for a strong club in Southern California and has been playing with and against good athletes her entire career. Melody has also received good coaching throughout her high school career and has grown as a player and athlete every year. We are looking forward to Melody coming in and making an immediate impact as well as reaching her highest potential."
 
Notable Info: Melody earned a Century League Championship in 2016 and 2017. Melody was a two-year varsity letter winner in 2016 and 2017. She also received an athletic award for El Dorado High School and the California Interscholastic Federation. Melody also received Century League First Team Honors in 2017.

Faith Houck-Wylie

  • Right-Side
  • Central Catholic High School / Portland, Oregon
  • Adidas Northwest Juniors Volleyball Club

Coach Clifton: "Faith brings some much needed height and blocking to the program. Her blocking is some of the best I have seen from a high school player in a long time. She also has a ton of potential to be a force on offence as well as grow into a complete player. Faith is a very hard worker and will fit into our program well. She is getting some great coaching at Adidas Northwest and we look forward to working with her soon."
 
Notable Info: Faith is a two-year varsity letter winner and a starter for the 2017 Mt. Hood League Championship team. As well as an Honorable-Mention member of the 2017 Mt. Hood All-League Team. Faith was also a member of the Central Catholic High School team that were State Runners-up in 2017, Mt. Hood League Conference Champions in 2016 and State Champions in 2016."

Amanda Powley

  • Setter
  • North Bend High School / Coos Bay, Oregon
  • Northwest Volleyball Club

Coach Clifton: "We are very excited to have Amanda as part of our 2018 recruiting class. She has shown a lot of potential and growth this year in high school and club. Amanda will bring hard work and a dedication to the team that is. She will also help push our team and setters to be the best they can be. We are looking forward to working with Amanda and watching her grow in our program."

Notable Info: Amanda is a four-year Varsity Letter Winner at North Bend High School as well as receiving 2nd Team All-League Honors all four years. In 2014, 2015 and 2016 she was team MVP.

Nicole Reyes

  • Outside Hitter / Libero
  • Armijo High School / Fairfield, California
  • Absolute Volleyball Club

Coach Clifton: "Nicole may be one of the best natural athletes that have ever been recruited to play Oregon Tech Volleyball. She will bring speed, strength and power to the 2018 roster. Nicole possesses an all-around skill set and can play in many different positions. She will also bring a wealth of experience of playing at a high level and is coming off of a club season where she plays on one of the top club teams in the nation. Nicole will be asked to contribute right away and will push our team in the gym and weight-room. We are looking forward to working with Nicole the next four years."
Notable Info: Nicole is a four-year varsity letter winner at Armijo High School. She received 1st Team All-Monticello League in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Nicole also received Team MVP 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Lindsey Sampson

  • Libero
  • Vista Del Lago High School / Folsom, California
  • Northern California Volleyball Club

Coach Clifton: "We are very excited to have signed Lindsey for the class of 2018. Lindsey has been a staple at our summer camps the last two years and has shown a ton of growth over that time. She is an exceptional defender and has a solid serve receive. Lindsey plays with a quiet confidence and is a stable performer every time she steps on the court. We look forward to working with Lindsey and are confident she will make an immediate impact on the team in 2018."
Notable Info: Lindsey is a three-year varsity letter winner at Vista Del Lago High School. In 2015 her high school team was CAL League Champions and finished 2nd in the Sac Joaquin Section Championship. In 2017 Lindsey was picked as her high school team's MVP as well as 1st Team All-League. She also received the Optimist Team Award for 2017.

 Oregon Tech will kick-off the 2018 season Thursday, August 16th at Western Oregon University. The Home and CCC Opener for the Lady Owls will be Friday, September 7that 4:00 pm vs Walla Walla University at Danny Miles Court.
