WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 PM PST SUNDAY

Winter Storm Warning - February 4, 2023

WHAT
Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 15 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

WHERE
South Central Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades. This includes highways 62, 138, 140, and 230 and the Crater Lake area.

WHEN
From 8 PM this evening to 10 PM PST Sunday.

IMPACTS
High-country travel could be difficult. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Visibility could drop to below a quarter mile in blowing snow briefly at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination. Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties.

NWS Advisory Levels

  • A Winter Weather Advisory will be issued for any amount of freezing rain, or when 2 to 4 inches of snow (alone or in combination with sleet and freezing rain), is expected to cause a significant inconvenience, but not serious enough to warrant a warning.

  • A Winter Storm Watch is issued when there is the potential for significant and hazardous winter weather within 48 hours. It does not mean that significant and hazardous winter weather will occur.

  • A Blizzard Warning means that the following conditions are occurring or expected within the next 12 to 18 hours.

  • A Winter Storm Warning is issued when a significant combination of hazardous winter weather is occurring or imminent.

  • NWS Advisory levels defined.
