Red Flag Warning Issued for Tuesday, August 11

The 2020 Summer Weather Alerts are brought to you by Cora Christ, Country Financial.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2020, for strong gusty winds with low relative humidity in parts of Klamath, Lake, and Modoc Counties.

A Fire Weather Watch is in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening for Klamath, Lake Modoc, and Siskiyou Counties.

Forecast

Temperatures will be above normal this week with moderate overnight humidity recovery at ridges.

A thunderstorm or two may develop this evening around Mount Shasta and in southeast Modoc county, but there will most likely not be any strikes today.

Conditions for thunderstorms will be more favorable Tuesday afternoon and evening from around Mount Shasta east into Modoc and southern Lake counties. Coverage will remain isolated.

However. the bigger concern is low relative humidities and strong gusty winds Tuesday afternoon and evening and again Wednesday afternoon and evening. Warnings and watches are now in effect.

Conditions look relatively benign from Thursday into the weekend, but it will be warming back up again and the weekend looks to be very hot and dry inland.

Please use extreme caution.
