FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The No.10 ranked Oregon Tech softball team kicked-off the 2019 season with a pair of shutout losses 9-0, and 1-0 at Pacific University Saturday afternoon at Sherman-Larkins Field. The back-to-back shutout losses was the first time the Owls were held scoreless in a doubleheader since March 22, 2009 in 3-0, and 4-0 losses at Willamette University. The good news for the Owls, the last time Oregon Tech opened the season 0-2, they went on to win the NAIA National Championship in 2011.

"Overall we did not play the way we are capable of today," said Head Coach Greg Stewart. "In game one, we let Pacific get the momentum by not making a couple of plays and then having too many walks or hit batters. All seven of their runs in the first two innings came with two outs. It goes without saying that we had a rough first outing at the plate after putting up two goose eggs on the board. We had our chances in game two but did not get a big hit and left to many runners on. Other than the great pitching performance in game two by Ali Graham, we simply did not play well today; as a coach, I need to do a better job of getting our team prepared to compete."

Game One: Pacific University 9, Oregon Tech 0 (5-Innings)

The Boxers scored early and often with two-runs in the first, five-runs in the second and added two-runs the fourth to finish off the Owls quickly 9-0 in the mercy rule shortened game.

Tech only managed five-hits in the game while also giving up two-errors and walking six-batters.

Sophomore Sarah Abramson was pegged with the loss giving up seven-runs in only 1.2 innings of work.

Game Two: Pacific University 1, Oregon Tech 0

Senior Ali Graham pitched well in the night cap only giving up 4-hits and one-earned run in six-innings of work but was the tough luck loser as the OIT offense didn't score on six-hits.

Senior Shayna Ige had two-hits to lead the Owls in game two.

Oregon Tech had many opportunities but stranded seven-runners on base in the game.

The Owls will look to rebound when they play a doubleheader at George Fox on Sunday in Newberg, Oregon starting at noon.
