KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A goal from freshman John Sarna pushed Oregon Tech to an early lead over Eastern Oregon University on Friday afternoon at the OIT Soccer Field, paving the way for the Owls to take the victory 4-0 and advance to 4-2-0 in CCC play.

"The men had a fantastic team performance," said Head Coach Brandon Porter. " They were organized and disciplined when the game was getting chippy and were solid when opportunities presented themselves. I thought Cade Roske and Kyle Sanchez showed tremendous leadership and helped keep us together. Very proud of them, now we need to take a deep breath and prepare ourselves for COI."

Senior Cade Roske grabbed an assist on Sarna's goal, which was scored in the 11th minute. Tech (7-2-2, 4-2-0 CCC) held the lead through the first period, despite increased offense from the Mountaineers (4-6-1, 2-4-0 CCC).

Eastern Oregon kicked up the offense in the second period, launching 12 shots. However, junior Mitchell Jillson saved four and the rest fell off target.

Mountaineer defense, on the other hand, struggled to keep up as the Hustlin' Owls added three more goals in the period.

Sarna and sophomore Jake Mitchell scored within a minute of each other early in the period to boost the lead to 3-0, and freshman Brock Rideout scored the fourth near the end of the game.

Sarna ended the day with four shots, three of which were on goal. Roske and freshman Kyle Wright tallied two shots of their own.

Calvin Mitchell led Eastern Oregon with three shots, two of which were on target, and Elvis Pavon, Patrick Larsen, and Felipe Madero each added two.

The Hustlin' Owls will take on the College of Idaho Saturday at the OIT Soccer Field at 12:00pm, continuing CCC play at home.
