Major Klamath Falls intersection to be closed for the summer

“The biggest change here is the improvements to pedestrian access at the intersection,” said Jonathan Teichert, Klamath Falls City Manager.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Today, in a press release, City of Klamath Falls officials announced the beginning of a road construction project at the intersection of Main and East Main Streets.

The project is expected to run through October 31.

The first stages of the project actually began June 10 with flaggers managing traffic flow and lane closures.

Beginning June 17 the intersection will be closed for the duration of the project. Included in the closure are Michigan Avenue and North Eldorado Avenue.

Detours will be in place to direct traffic around the intersection.

“The biggest change here is the improvements to pedestrian access at the intersection,” said Jonathan Teichert, Klamath Falls City Manager. “From the arrows [in the photo above], you can see how the traffic pattern will change.  The intersection is being redesigned, somewhat, to allow left-hand turns onto E. Main Street and onto Michigan.  Also, two through-lanes heading out on Main Street.”

The city asks that citizens use caution while traveling around work zones. They also thank everyone patience while this public improvement project takes place.
