Letter to the Editor: Jon Hobbs for Klamath County School Board

Letter to the Editor by, Ted Abram, Klamath Falls.

Having known and worked with Jon Hobbs for over twenty years, I strongly support Jon for Klamath County School Board, Zone 3.

Jon has worked for over twenty years assisting low income individuals and families to become self-sufficient - including working with at-risk students as they begin to transition to jobs and adulthood. He has worked with state and communities throughout the nation, improving welfare and work programs. Jon is very knowledgeable about public education and social service policies, programs, and funding.

Since becoming a citizen of Klamath County Jon has owned and operated two businesses – “P”oetential Farm which produces eggs, and JRH Consulting, a management and public policy consulting firm.

Because of his vast experiences in public policies, Jon knows that community participation and solutions are essential for excellence in education, safety, and livability for all residents. Presently, Jon is a major force in developing Klamath Works, a very successful job training program that promotes self-sufficiency. He is Director of Evaluation and Program Improvement.

As a former Circuit Judge in the Basin for seventeen years, I am fully aware of the importance of preparing students to enter the workforce-either through college, the Trades or the military. This preparation is critical - I have seen the results when we fail - and it must start with schools working with parents and the community toward a common goal: producing educated productive and motivated citizens that contribute to our community.
