Lady Owls Win 1st CCC Regular Season Championship, Make School History

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Oregon Tech took down the Evergreen State College with a 3-0 shutout win on Saturday afternoon, earning their eighth straight win and winning the Cascade Conference Regular Season Championship for the first time in school history.

"Congratulations to our women, they have been focused all season and as a school we couldn't be any more proud of them," said OIT Head Coach Brandon Porter. "Our conference is one of the deepest competitively as far as competition goes, and for our team to go undefeated is real accomplishment and the girls should be very proud. Go owls!!"

The regular season victory sends the Lady Owls (13-2-3, 10-0-2 CCC) into the eight team Cascade Collegiate Tournament presented by U.S. Bank as the number one seed and gives them their first ever automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round on November 22-23.

Junior Kyra Mull was first to score, and she did it early in the game, kicking one in off an assist from senior Salyna Blue in the 6th minute. Freshman Maddie Miller jumped in just two minutes later, heading in a goal on a Kyra Cambra assist.

Tech's defense was strong, holding the Geoducks (5-11, 3-9 CCC) to only three shots in each half.

Freshman Shaylee Lutz scored the final goal for the Owls with only three minutes remaining in the second. Lutz was assisted by junior Abigail Herbert.

Mull added the majority of the shots, making 2-of-4 on target. Lutz shot 2-of-3, sophomore Amanda Seward shot 1-of-2, and senior Hailey Satyna added another two shots.

For the Geoducks, Madison Early shot 1-of-2 and Sara Peterson and Hanna Gagley each shot 1-of-1 on goal.

Goalie Jenna Stiehr saved three in the game, earning her 13th shutout of the season.

The Cascade Collegiate Conference opens on Tuesday, November 12th in Springfield, Oregon at 10:00am.
