Commissioners offer grants for Child Care and Day Care providers

Child Care and Day Care providers, impacted by COVID-19 related closures and restrictions, can now apply for a one-time grant from Klamath County to help offset losses in revenue since March 2020.  Klamath County has the ability to submit requests for CARES funding and childcare assistance is an allowed use of funds.

Providers should send a letter to the Board of Commissioners via email to bocc@klamathcounty.org. Letters should include details of the request and include financial records showing losses related to COVID-19. Child care operations that have closed are not eligible.  The Board intends this grant to help providers remain viable after suffering financial losses, through no fault of their own.  

The Board of Commissioners and County staff will evaluate requests for completeness and appropriateness; grants will be at the discretion of the Board of Commissioners and subject to funding availability.  A request is not a guarantee of assistance. Requests must be submitted by November 1st, 2020, all funding must be expended by December 31st, 2020.

Additionally, Commissioners are working with the Fairgrounds, OCDC and Klamath KID Center on a temporary, emergency childcare center at the Fairgrounds for this school year.  Information on registering can be found at www.kceventcenter.org/project-child-care-co-op .  Financial assistance, based on hardship, is available to families on a case-by-case basis.
