Bus stop shooting suspect arrested

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Detectives from the Klamath Falls Police Department (KFPD) investigating yesterday’s bus stop shooting in at N. 7th & Pine in Klamath Falls made a suspect arrest on Thursday.

At approximately 1:30 PM on May 18, KFPD Detectives developed probable cause to make an arrest. Detectives visited the subject’s last known address to contact him with negative results. 

While surveilling the residence, the subject was observed leaving and getting into a car. 

Detectives followed the car to the Gulf Gas Station located at the 2000 block of Oregon Ave. The subject was taken into custody without further incident. 

The subject was identified as 29-year-old Gabriel A. Jenesse.

Jenesse was lodged at the Klamath County Jail on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Reckless Endangering.

On May 17, 2023, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Klamath Falls Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of North 7th St / Pine St regarding a possible shooting.

Officers arrived on scene and rendered aide to the gunshot victim until medical personnel arrived on scene and transported him to Sky Lakes Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

The initial report indicated two men were fighting at the bus stop on Pine Street, a gun shot was heard.

An additional report indicated a male subject had been shot and was in and out of consciousness.

The person responsible for the shooting was last seen walking through the parking lot towards North 6th St.

Klamath Falls Police Department with the assistance of the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police, began to canvass the area.

Detectives from the Klamath Falls Police Department took over the investigation.

The person of interest is described as a Native American or Hispanic male adult in his mid-20s, last seen wearing a white t-shirt, khaki shorts, white tennis shoes, and wearing a hat with a full brim.

Additionally, the man had a satchel type bag slung across his chest. We ask the public if they see a person matching the description to please use caution and to call 9-1-1.
